Nestled at the remote, forest-encircled source of the River Spey, the SPEY distillery was decades in the making. Its secluded location, often frozen and unreachable in winter, was chosen solely to secure the purest spring water. This commitment imbues SPEY whisky with its remarkably pristine soul.

SPEY adheres to extended fermentation, allowing each batch to ferment slowly for 120 to 180 hours. During this time, the yeast and the distillery’s unique microbiota interact fully, releasing layers of fruity and floral aromas and esters. The result is SPEY’s signature elegance and intricate complexity.

SPEY employs slow, low-temperature distillation in traditional copper pot stills, allowing ample copper contact. Expertly selected oak casks shape the evolving flavours of SPEY whisky. Bourbon barrels impart notes of honey and vanilla, while sherry casks contribute rich dried fruit and warm spice. Under precise ageing conditions, each cask reveals its latent complexity, culminating in a perfectly balanced, exquisitely textured, and deeply layered whisky.

Quality Over Quantity - Limited to Just 600,000 Litres Per Year

SPEY embraces the elegance of simplicity, staying true to ancient techniques and traditional equipment. Refusing to compromise on output or cost, the distillery has voluntarily halved its production to just 600,000 litres annually. Every drop is meticulously crafted - an ultimate tribute to time and craftsmanship, bringing the world a spirit forged through passion and artistry.
